    Seems to be a common theme for the world right now. The empire might not be crumbling yet but the cracks are visible everywhere and the collapse I fear is going to be so fast given the interdependence of global markets that nobody will be able to react in time to avert total chaos. What we're seeing now is barely a preview.

      I agree. People still talk about democracy but show me where is it still happening? I'll tell you a lot of people in Belarus think that the US is the perfect exemplar of democracy. I tell them things. About vans in Portland, or closed poll stations, or red lining. They nod but it doesn't compute. Belarusians love to complain, for a lot of us it's kind of a competition. "It's worse here," "No' it's worse here," completely missing the point that this global order has fucked all of us.
