As the war in Gaza continues, cheerleading of civilian slaughter and justification of war crimes are pervasive. But they’re not coming from the Left — they’re coming from politicians and commentators defending Israel’s vicious bombing campaign and blockade.
Glad someone put it clearly in writing, but unfortunately this has been a thing for years. Hopefully it will change, because the civilians don’t deserve the cruelty they’re being dealt. It at least seems like more EU member states are starting to wake up to this, but how long it will take to make that into policy and action is debatable.
There are so many layers of cognitive dissonance and lobbied policy inertia to overcome.
Meaning some of them do??? I'm assuming this is just an unfortunate turn of phrase, otherwise it's a very perplexing thing to say.
