Well this is terrible, because as an American I not only have enough disposable income to travel but also plenty of vacation time to take off

Eh, not that ominous. Probably just part of the big propaganda push to get everyone afraid of the world again. COVID fear has died down so the US needs a new reason to continue to erode rights and increase it's global military presence. Why not just issue a blanket "OMG THE WORLD SO SCARY" alert as part of that program?

biden-the-thing"the rules based international order, uhh, may have just legitimized the use of violence against civilians in a massive and blatant way by giving its full support to the genocide of Palestinians, but uhh... don't worry."

all you have to do is be able to say "Free Palestine!" in the local language

but this is beyond the grasp of the American tourist

I live in a safer country than USA and the American embassy sends out travel warnings every time there is a demonstration in vincity of the embassy. Motherfucker it's safer here in a dark alley than on main street, Boise.

“Non-Israel aligned countries might look at a country backing a genocide with aversion”

    shocked-pikachu

Truly, no one could’ve seen this coming. Americans are all smol beans unequivocally condemning Israel and not at all parroting the empire’s talking points. Pshh it’s not like anyone would see the Americans as the perpetrators of anything here (not like they have a track record of conquest and destruction)

It's impossible to know how much of this is an actual threat that the US intelligence apparatus identified, how much of this is paranoid imaginations of beltway critters, and how much of this is suborning a warning system into a propaganda tool.

I mean, I have a pretty good guess how much of each of those it is, but it's impossible to know.
