I wonder what miura's political views are. I dont think hes a chud, despite all the sexual violence in berserk. Idk does berserk even have any kind of political message? It seemingly has a philosophy, which is kinda nihilistic or rather fatalistic, but as I see it guts is trying to change his fate, since he is the "struggler". Idk I'm rambling
Watching the first two episodes it seems to be a revolutionary message in that feudal lords and their military commanders are displayed as abhorrent and that if you wield military power there needs to be something that holds you to humanity (which could be a community of values and more importantly, other powerful actors).
It seems that the exploitation of the working people is also exemplified and it is underlined again and again that valuing yourself too highly if you are in battles of force is a problem, though there is quite a bit plot armor for a few. Still it is good to be aware that there is real power and not seldom in crisis it stems from the barrel of guns.
There seems to be quite a bit of alienation of Guts to other people, which seems to be caused not by individual actions, but also structural and systemic ones.
You know, maybe the best anime of all time is on YouTube as well. I can't recommend Utena enough.
Berserk is also real good, though I need to read the manga.
Its on another level how depressing the show is, and that's just the beginning of the whole manga. I wish they'd adapt the whole thing properly, if the manga ever even finishes.
Yeah I refuse to acknowledge the existence of the adaptations after 1997. They had it right back then, but somehow they decided to drop the show.
Haha just saw this: https://twitter.com/reddhotriot/status/1365442117955371011?s=20 [mostly topical]
