        Never done that and I've dealt with plenty of apartment plants, both as a housekeeper and privately.

        Is it some special kinds of plants that need this?

          Some plants might require an extended soak, especially if you just moved them out of an old pot or the ground and into a new pot. It helps the plant get over the "shock."
