Unironically true. This is merely symbolic "sweep it under the rug" gesture. They don't care about obscene wealth or corruption, just don't speak out against the CPC.

Calm down ultras, they're just keeping up appearances while they siphon our capital away and use it to counter our military advantage.

Yes, and they managed to "catch" all the people who spoke out against the CPC. Curious, no?

They're separate apps that are basically the same, but one is for China and one is for the rest of the world

TikTok and Douyin have almost the same user interface but no access to each other's content. Their servers are each based in the market where the respective app is available.[8] The two products are similar, but features are not identical.

I had to spend a whole pandemic listing to my friend who makes 72,000 a year bitch and obsess about how she wouldn't get a yearly bonus due to covid while the rest of us were didn't know if we'd even have a job the next week. Wealth flaunting is absolutely detestable, and I cannot get behind this enough. Cue the liberals and conservatives calling this orwellian or some stupid shit

I get that it's all relative and maybe they were relying on that expected bonus for something, but seriously, these people need to use some tact. It's like all of the folks complaining about remote work - yeah, it sucks sometimes, but you also aren't risking your life every time you do your job. Doesn't mean you can't complain about it, but have some consideration for the person who has to listen to you.

The thing that keeps me up at night is not people flaunting insane amounts of wealth, it’s people having insane amounts of wealth. :gui-better:
