8 hours a day is also too long. 4 hour days, 4 days a week. That's my final offer mr capitalism
I worked a place that did rotating shifts and we experimented a lot with different scheduling (sometimes out of necessity due to temporary understanding). And it's insane how I could still work an average of 40 hours per 7 days, but depending on the shift or the numbers of days on/off I'd feel much different. I generally felt like shit because rotating shifts killed my social life, but 4 10 hour shifts then 3 days off felt much better than 9-5 work with only weekends off.
THIS, I am always telling people this! They said if productivity doubled we'd only have to work half as much. Instead half the people got fired.
I've shocked more people by pointing out that the 40 hr work week was not ordained by God himself and is something that could, in fact, be changed.
Jobs are made up. Farmers are like 1% of people. Build some trains to move shit around so we can reduce the people driving trucks for no reason.
Easy for me to imagine 2 day work weeks, 5 days off to keep society hmmming along.
Lol, Im working 10 hour days, 5 days a week. And due to bullshit. Ive done several 12 hours and Had to work has saturday.
Im dead on the inside and nothing can really fix that.
Ngl if we did have a 16 hour work week I'd end up doing 10 hours on Monday, 6 hours on Tuesday, and take a 5 day weekend
I lived that life when I was trying to break into Theatre. 12 hour days, 6 day weeks - oh but I can only clock in for 50 hours because more than that is too much, so a ton of my work got done "on my own time".
what did you do in theatre that required so many hours
set design or costume shit?
Wasn't there a study that proved the most productivity a person is good for is about 2 hours a day?
Looks like it was a private study, but still
The study asked then asked respondents, ‘If you had to state a figure, how long do you think you spend productively working during work hours on a daily basis?’ The results of this revealed the average answer to be ‘2 hours and 53 minutes’ of actual productivity in the workplace across all respondents.
I support the 420 69 workweek. 4 hours per day, 20 hours per week, $69/hour wage.
"well change it to 3 days of work, then a day off which we'll call a "freedom day", then it's 3 more days of work!"
We got people doing 40 hours or more a week (some at 50 or 60) and we got people languishing in unemployment. We can totally solve this shit by cutting the work week down in half (without a reduction in take home pay!)
IDK if I can get behind this. Does it really have to be 4 whole days out of the week?
It's partially a meme, but a 4-20-69 work week actually sounds pretty good right about now (that is 4 days, 20 hours total, $69 an hour)
lol, I went from 5 nights a week to 4 for three weeks a while back because I had some course on one of the days and needed the night off. Those three day weekends honestly felt like a fucking holiday lol. Sucks to be back on five days now
