I hate advertising so much. I got this pet theory that advertising is one of the major drivers of the "fake news" narratives. When you are inundated with ads that reward your personal choice, and tell you what a goodie good boy you are for making choices, it doesn't take long for you to start thinking subjectively about all media. You are, after all, the only protagonist of real life, you are the sole arbiter of truth, so you get to decide anything can be false at the drop of a pin. Ads constantly reaffirm your individuality at the expense of everyone else.
You just reminded me how much I hate the ads that take the form of real news articles at the end of an article, no wonder people are so cynical when they are reading something on CNN and then see "6 unbelievable weight loss stories" in the reccommended
That's a good one too! It's predatory bullshit. Or the ads that break up every article, which exist to break up your train of thought and dazzle your eyes midway through an article. Then they wonder why nobody reads the articles and just knee-jerks to the headlines. Guys, you did this, you made it hard to read journalism. Fuck outta here with your buyer's remorse.
