The "there has to be a good reason why we do this thing or otherwise we wouldn't do it" is such a terrible line of thought. You have google motherfuckers you can go read the given reason why we're doing it and even discern the real reason if you look at history. You can attribute maliciousness to it but I think people are just being lazy and refuse to learn about the things they want to have opinions about.
