I appreciate the thoughtful response, for what it's worth.
I definitely did come in a little hot, I'll admit that. It just seemed like everyone was being completely dismissive of the idea that Jewish people might have a disproportionate amount of power. And for the record, I strongly disagree with your characterization that "they have a disproportionate amount of power" is the same as "they control everything." I understand there's some serious overlap in the groups who believe both those things, but surely you can admit there's still a huge difference between those two statements.
I understand why people in this thread weren't even talking about that part of the tweet though, they were just commenting on the fact that she was shifting responsibility from white supremacists onto the Jews, which definitely seems like victim blaming to me. I get why people are making fun of that.
I just wanted to ask the question that kind of felt like the elephant in the room. Sometimes I like poking the hornet's nest.
By the way, this part:
Making the discussion about the fact that you never said exactly one thing even though the message communicated by what you said is identical to the message of the thing you never word-for-word said is a bad faith tactic. Because now we’re not having a discussion about how your point is the Jews have power over society, we’re having a discussion about the words you used to express that.
Is absolutely ridiculous, tbh. I'm obviously not trying to change the subject, I made a point to ask you a straightforward question point blank at the end of my last post, if anything I was too blunt and direct. So for you to imply that I'm trying to change the subject, that's absolutely absurd. Why would I enter the thread by asking a specific question, and then try to sidetrack you from answering that question? That makes no sense to me.
Anyway, now that I think about it, I was engaging in medium-faith tbh. Because I was pretty sure I knew the answer already, but I'm definitely open to having my mind changed if I'm wrong. I did a tiny bit of research on the subject a few years ago, and I remember getting the impression that they are over-represented at least slightly. I don't think I've read any actual studies on the subject though, and I do understand that anyone who talks about the subject is likely to be biased one way or the other.
Anyway, for what it's worth I really am a leftist. I'm firmly anti-capitalist, and I think we need to move towards co-operation instead of competition, our current system has no future. Also, I am/was a big-time Bernie supporter, so obviously I can't be too afraid of Jews :P
If you really care, I'm willing to dox myself to prove I'm not a right wing troll.
Hear what? Me asking a question? Yeah I heard it.
