seriously, it is the top of the game. The Manga just slaps.

If I've seen all of the anime that is out so far would you recommend reading ahead in the manga?

oh for sure. It really expands, arguably the anime right now is just a prologue. Its also super popular, finding a really good fan translation online should take about 3 minutes.

How far behind is the anime? Because the anime's wrapping too isn't it? I was thinking they'd milk it to the end.

(supposedly, unless covid changes things, they've been remarkably opaque) the anime follows the manga almost 1:1, its got some editing and pace adjustments but over all its a faithful adaption. They say the season coming at the end of this year will wrap it all up, which means they are sticking to the script baby.

I mean, there's probably too much for a single season to catch up to the manga at this point. The last season will probably be split into multiple parts.

its not over, but at the pace its going I'd only give it 3 more chapters, maybe 4 or 5 if there's an epilogue.

My biggest gripe with it is that the community is fash as fuck, and the manga itself is kinda tiptoeing that line between being lib or fascist. But other than that, the series is ridiculously good. It went from a series I was pretty meh on during S1 to an absolute favorite post-basement, and depending on how the next couple of chapters go it could definitely end up being a classic.

Nah, I meant the fans. The show features a lot of fascist and nationalist elements, especially in the early seasons, that it later subverts and deconstructs, but apparently the people who found those things appealing and flocked to the show because of them missed the point. Especially now due to recent plot developments, I've seen a ton of unironic mask-off fascist and nationalist types coming out of the woodwork and turning discussions into absolute hell.

I understand liking the Rumbling from a story standpoint, or liking Eren as a character and sympathising with him somewhat, but the amount of people I've seen that argue what Eren is doing is not only completely justified, but also cool and good is way too fucking high. Like fuck, I literally can't go anywhere on the internet and even imply Eren might be wrong without a bunch of dudes piling up on me saying "it's killed or be killed bro, genocide is self defense"

oh yeah, agreed. I can understand being uncomfortable condemning Eren from the gut reaction of liking the main character and having spent years with him (in a following the manga way) but thats how you're supposed to feel. The last chapter made it extremely clear about his actions.
