    It bears emphasizing over and over again that average people genuinely have no fucking idea the scale of the measures we would have to take as a society starting right now just to prevent a total catastrophe hitting ~2050 (optimistically). I always roll my fucking eyes with conservatives make fun of kiddie shit like the Green New Deal as if it's actually beyond-the-pale radical or libs thinking carbon taxes solve everything like hitting the autopilot.
