Personally, I watch dubs only when the English is very good. For me, that means female characters don’t sound like children despite being teens/adults, no one sounds like they’re over acting, and the voices actually look like they fit with the characters (funny voices meant to contrast with the character don’t count).
Honorifics don’t really matter to me when watching since I can see the dynamics on my screen, so I find it distracting when I’m watching subs and they dedicate screen time to a bunch of untranslated words and translator’s notes
Sometimes I like to get up and do something really quick and I don't need to pause the show. I can also look away and not miss any important lines.
Also Ghost Stories English Dub is the greatest anime of all time, don't @ me.
the cowboy bebop dub is extremely good but i personally can't articulate why that is. It's probably Steve Blum.
almost every other case i'd prefer to read subtitles, though
I'll watch dubs sometimes if they're good and fitting to the story like I did for Great Pretender, but otherwise no. Or if it's part of a series I watched as a kid like Pokemon, can't watch the new series without dub.
:geordi-no: Subs Vs. Dubs Debate
:geordi-yes: Enjoying anime however you like, but set to another language besides english.
I watched Interviews with Monster Girls in Spanish by accident and wasnt bothered by the stiff acting
