Nooooo!!! Murdering animals is part of my culture!!!
Removed by modfunny how "leftists" become hardcore traditionalists when the morally bankrupt nature of their beliefs is pointed out
Cannibalism is still a part of the culture in some groups, I don't think most people would be frothing at the mouth with rage if I suggested that this cannibalism thing might be bad
murderers fuck off
Hey to all omnis reporting this post because your feelings got hurt: the mods of !vegan are vegan, geniuses. Fuck off.
OP, you're pissing off the omnis, good job :vegan-liberation-rad:
They are absolutely pissed! They made a separate post whining about vegans too lmao.
Rent free!
edit: literally defending human sacrifice to justify their fucked up morals
I don't get what you're trying to say. Maybe because I'm not American. Can you explain?
This is an issue I gradually came to a more nuanced positions than "lmao fuck all carnies" on. The prevailing attitude of online left that culture is suddenly sacrosanct when the issue of wellbeing of animals come to play is extremely annoying and in my experience is borderline impossible to push against without playing a bit of idpol jujitsu. Those are also probably most effective arguments against veganism in leftist circles.
On the other hand specific clumsy animal rights activism can actually harm indigenous people. Like it's easy to get your average western omni with their mouth full of McDonald's burgers to be angry at Indians hunting whales or seals or whatever and this can lead to legislation that cuts an indigenous community's only lifeline.
What complicates the issue even more there are industries that profit from hunting those animals commercially and use needs of indigenous communities they don't belong to as a shield against getting their business banned. They not shy about embellishing facts and using those bad optics against animal rights conservation and other environmental efforts.

We were hoping this wouldn't be much of an issue on here
I'm not saying that people on this site act like that. I'm saying it's reasonable to be suspicious of animal rights activism which leads to legislation that ends up affecting marginalized minorities the most.
Eating dead people is less wasteful than just burying them to rot.
Sorry if I wasn't clear, I meant killing the person for the purpose of consuming them.
Killing is unethical but "burial feasts" is a really interesting idea.
Wikipedia says:
Cannibalism has recently been both practised and fiercely condemned in several wars, especially in Liberia[10] and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.[11] It was still practised in Papua New Guinea as of 2012, for cultural reasons[12][13] and in ritual as well as in war in various Melanesian tribes. Cannibalism has been said to test the bounds of cultural relativism because it challenges anthropologists "to define what is or is not beyond the pale of acceptable human behavior".[1] Some scholars argue that no firm evidence exists that cannibalism has ever been a socially acceptable practice anywhere in the world, at any time in history, although this has been consistently debated against.[14]
So I suppose it's up for debate even though it seems there's evidence for it. I don't know much about the topic.
Like I said I'm not really arguing for a side as this is not a topic I know a lot about. But if your goal was to prove it is not a cultural thing in Papua New Guinea, then that citation doesn't seem very convincing: if it has declined, then it must have been a thing at one point.
