Nooooo!!! Murdering animals is part of my culture!!!
Removed by modfunny how "leftists" become hardcore traditionalists when the morally bankrupt nature of their beliefs is pointed out
Cannibalism is still a part of the culture in some groups, I don't think most people would be frothing at the mouth with rage if I suggested that this cannibalism thing might be bad
murderers fuck off
This is an issue I gradually came to a more nuanced positions than "lmao fuck all carnies" on. The prevailing attitude of online left that culture is suddenly sacrosanct when the issue of wellbeing of animals come to play is extremely annoying and in my experience is borderline impossible to push against without playing a bit of idpol jujitsu. Those are also probably most effective arguments against veganism in leftist circles.
On the other hand specific clumsy animal rights activism can actually harm indigenous people. Like it's easy to get your average western omni with their mouth full of McDonald's burgers to be angry at Indians hunting whales or seals or whatever and this can lead to legislation that cuts an indigenous community's only lifeline.
What complicates the issue even more there are industries that profit from hunting those animals commercially and use needs of indigenous communities they don't belong to as a shield against getting their business banned. They not shy about embellishing facts and using those bad optics against animal rights conservation and other environmental efforts.
We were hoping this wouldn't be much of an issue on here
I'm not saying that people on this site act like that. I'm saying it's reasonable to be suspicious of animal rights activism which leads to legislation that ends up affecting marginalized minorities the most.
