The reason I saw given in the mod log is just the Dr. Manhattan quote from Watchmen. *I am tired of these people..."
I saw a user who appeared to be an admin comment that same quote in a thread. Obviously can't know if it's the same user and I won't call out who it is to preserve the anonymity the mods want as much as I think I should (if I could see that coincidence, others can).
But yeah. Let's ban one of the most prolific users. I think I saw them arguing with a vegan user so I guess they're another casualty of this struggle. Or maybe they asked for it as a joke?
No idea. I'm fascinated by all this drama honestly, but I'll probably need a break from this myself as it doesn't look like it will be slowing down and the admins look to be digging their heels in from the PR post
Edit: As much as Dash contributed as a dev, they chose to surround their exit in the struggle drama and talk down to the users who didn't share their opinion. congressbasebalfan could have refrained from commenting, but I don't see where a line was crossed that hasn't been crossed by many other users this week that didn't happen to be replying to mods/devs. It's not ban worthy. Just remove the comment if you want
Is there any public reason for the mod log being anonymous? Seems like it’s just so the mods don’t have any accountability if they’re acting like shitheads.
I think people were getting harassed and maybe potentially doxxed. Dunno if the practice was started after the Beatnik saga or before.
So I kinda get it. But at the same time, it's not shocking there is some mistrust following a decision to remove transparency
I just think you should have to have better reasons for justifying banning. I've seen lots of users go down in the past week where I thought the ban was maybe an overreaction

luv to ban people from what might be the only community they have and justify it with a dumb comic book meme quote

That’s a big part of it. Especially because the mods have promised again and again that they would add ban reasons to the ban log.
