As of late I've really been struggling with who to vote for (if at all). Unfortunately I live in a swing state, so I'm really trying to devote some thought to this and it's been difficult to have a discussion where someone doesn't call me a liberal (for considering Biden) or a fascist (for considering not voting for Biden).
I'd really appreciate some thoughts from the community on what you're doing and why.
When you say it doesn't matter, are you saying your individual vote is insignificant or that the next president doesn't matter?
Yeah, probably for La Riva. I got local and state stuff to vote on so I may as well cast a presidential ballot while I'm there.
Well I'm not settled, but I'm in PSL and would like to vote for an outright communist. I may vote Howie though. I may even vote Biden. It really doesn't matter.
What's the threshold for greens to start getting money? If they're close I'll probably vote for them.
My understanding is that you need 5% of votes cast nationally to qualify for FEC funding.
Cheers. I'll probably end up voting for them to try and help them get a bit more financial backing.
It's more local stuff that is getting me to vote, though.
I guess a lot of the reason I'm even considering Biden is from a damage reduction perspective. Obviously he'll do nothing to advance any leftist goals, but I'm seriously questioning whether or not a Biden presidency could prevent some suffering.
I'm going for Howie. Greens are going to be on the ballot in way more states and have far more name recognition. I figure enough people will be disaffected by their repellent electoral choices that the odds of them getting 5% of the vote are high enough for me to want to contribute to that total.
Depending on what narrative you read, my state might be competitive in November, but fuck that. If Dems wanted me to vote for them, they shouldn't have spat in my face.
I feel ideologically closer to PSL, but I think that part of me would rather engage in direct action like mutual aid, activism, or parody than cast a ballot.
La Riva since I’ve been rolling with PSL during these protests. Also to piss off my Biden Bro roommate.
Yes. I'll be voting for Biden. I do not care for him really, but I live in a swing state and am kinda tired of trump and his shit. Its hard to fight for anything when it feels like basic competence is beyond the grasp of the current admin. I like what Chomsky has said on the subject. I do find Biden's policies preferable to Trump, and unless we have ranked choice, if I live in a swing state I gotta consider that
reeeeeeeeeee but chapo tells me that chomsky is bad reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Live in a permanently blue state so I'm going PSL if I can (idk if they made it on the ballot here), or Greens if I can't.
