Hedges talked about AOC in his interview with Bad Faith, saying that the system and party forces good intentioned people into Faustian bargains and corruption because their exchange is that at least the AOCs of Congress can get some bills and legislative victories that help their constituents somewhat. Or they commit to politics for the prestige, honor, or to inhibit "worse" politicians from entering Congress.

Yeah thats sad but also a reason to not waste time and energy coalescing around them or behind their "stuggle" as a strategy. Its not a fight for the working class to participate in since it isnt one that will advance any socialist cause

Hedges reiterates that in the interview, that a catharsis or coherent vision for a new society has to be collaborative project among activists, workers, and organizers rather than a fixation on just gerring the right people with the right inside leverage inside the levers of power.

I think AOC is popular among online left liberals is because she is an online proxy who reprimands Republicans, and that is the closest thing you can get to relieve anxiety from living in a country that is saturated in political impotence and indifference to the human spirit.
