In NC 2020, 49.9% voted for Trump, 48.6% voted for Biden. This new map draws the majority of people who voted for Biden into 4 districts, changing the congressional district ratio from 7:7 to 10:4. This new map became law last week.

Absolutely wild how this works and also how the overwhelming majority of people don't give a shit or just accept it as "the way things are". If a state has >50% support for one party, you could theoretically draw a map that would be entirely red. You could easily still have the map look like this new one even if the state was 60D/40R.

It would make too much sense to just split congressional seats by percentage of vote for the whole state so Americans have to come up with some pepe-silvia shit to explain how this is akchually the better way and no they haven't been brainwashed.

And then when this place gets fucked up by a climate disaster or the state's incompetence, like Texas with the blizzards, libs will be all, 'shoulda voted blue.'

Biden got 48.6% of NC's votes, but it doesn't matter because it's a red state and the strategy is that it's already a lost cause.

No acknowledgement of the people who showed up to support the Democratic candidate despite the systemic disenfranchisement and misinformation. No questions about why more people didn't show up or how to court them.

They're just letting the state go red because it's not part of the strategy to motivate voters with meaningful change to material conditions.

They're not part of the Electoral College "path to 270" so they will get close to nothing. Also the state party is inept and has had high turnover for the last few years.

Surely the dems will fight back in response to this instead of simply rolling over liberalism

This could backfire on them, but they also control lots of the local election boards, so the growing city centers that are split or packed will probably just have their votes mysteriously burn or not be counted.
