(AZ, USA) Moving out on the 31st (not evicted just moving somewhere else), and I’m considering whether or not it’s worth even doing a minimal amount of cleanup.
My deposit was only $250 and I know they’re keeping it because I have cats and they scratch stuff and it’s just not in great shape to begin with.
What is the worst that can happen if they have a lot to clean before the next tenant? Nothing is broken just dirty and lots of trash everywhere lol. Thanks in advance
No in fact you should break everything and poop on floors + ceilings (throw poop on ceilings)
Last time I moved, I spent a lot of time and money cleaning, and then it was apparently not enough anyway and I only got part of the deposit back. If you know you aren't getting yours Idk why even bother.
Cheap deposit. Depending on the state and how long you lived in the spot, they can't change you for certain things (soiled carpets, repainting, etc). Idk I'd put an effort into cleaning as if I had a visitor coming over, but you don't have a lot to lose if you just bail on it
If you're certain you're going to lose the $250 regardless, don 't bother. Literally the only reason I've cleaned out former apartments thoroughly was to get the deposit back but typically it was equivalent to a month's rent.
Yeah I don’t know why it was so cheap lol. But I would have to probably spend more than that on carpet cleaners, other cleaning supplies, some plaster to touch up the walls and it certainly doesn’t sound like it’s worth it
Maybe do it to a small extent-enough so they can think you tried and wont be dogshit if it comes up when looking to rent a future place. I wouldn't put much effort into it though.
I think in AZ they have to invoice it but they will have no issues finding 250$ to pay their cousin, so don't bother
