This here. Socialism is fringe in the west, especially when it comes to media that's aimed at all demographics like summer blockbusters. Nearly nothing is gonna have good politics in relation to... reality I guess. To our viewpoint as leftist. The politics of the media need to be compared to the average political climate of the society, which in America is still pretty conservative capitalist friendly stuff.
I think a huge indicator of the change in political views is how Marvel does soldiers. Notice how most all action movies with a big bad usually include the military, someone logically sometimes just cus they got DoD money and didn't plan on it originally (cus nearly all of them get DoD money including marvel). But with marvel even though the army and other armed forces are portrayed very well, their are rarely in the movie. You almost never see US soldiers in marvel movies despite them getting DoD money and being in that genre. The fact is they don't put them in because that trope isn't popular like it used to be. Hell they don't even show cops as 100% right all the time anymore (recent show had cops profile a black superhero). To me that shows at least some movement back into the right direction. That even this super safe series that is meant for nearly all demos is doing that isn't a bad thing.
Sure it's not like they're great but we're talking about media conglomerates in the worldwide capitalist empire's homeland. Perspective is important.
