The Prequels layered absolute dogshit CGI and screenwriting atop a surprisingly gripping story of an empire in decline.

The Sequels literally did not have a plot at all. They were just a series of tropes.

I still say the problem with star wars is that Lucas got too big.

He's a creative guy who can craft a good story, but he needs help. He needs editors, he needs writers or at least help writing. People to tell him no when he wants to tinker needlessly.

So much rather have him without limits than the lame stuff that is disney.

I mean, half the problem was him divorcing his first wife. She was an excellent film editor and a lot of Lucas's early success came out of her creative vision.

I think part of the problem with The Prequels was that it did attempt to become a kind-of Disney-esque franchise. Jar Jar was the obvious personification of this, but you could see it in the way he downplayed the role of Darth Maul and constantly tried to force comedy into what should have been relatively stoic dramatizations. Rogue One and Solo showed how you could still make a very captivating traditional 80s-style movie. Damn shame they were producing too much Star Wars too fast, and these got overshadowed by the Sequel swill.

But also, and most importantly, don't let J.J. Abrams anywhere near your Sci-Fi franchise. The dude's got a Sidam touch.
