Back when I was a lib, I read The 4 Hour Work Week, and that was basically the secret, right there, buried underneath about two hundred pages of fluff. Hire an executive assistant from, like, Pakistan, and then make that person do everything for you, pay them nothing, and take all the credit. At the time I was freaked out by the idea of giving a person like that access to my bank account (which had practically nothing inside it anyway). The notion that I would be exploiting someone in the Global South never entered my mind. Apparently you can also do this with coding? People who know more about this, correct me, but again, you can apparently just, like, have an idea, hire coders from Pakistan (sorry, Pakistan) to make it for you, and then just take all the credit (and 99% of the money) for yourself. Fucking bullshit, man!
That reminds of a story of a guy who wrote a Python script to automate his job (basically data entry from what I remember) without telling his employer (obviously that's different to the situation being discussed in here). I think this was it (bootlickers in the comnents). It's praxis tbqh.
Well there are also programmers who have actually outsourced their job to someone more desperate in another country. Like a miniaturized version of whole company outsourcing. I'm sure the bosses encourage it because it moves liability onto these psycho programmers instead of the psycho company.
If that dude's company's budgeting office had run the numbers and concluded that they would turn a profit if they kidnapped the guy, carved his skin off, then sent a man wearing his skin to torment his family like something from The Purge, they would eventually do it. They'd have to. They need to turn a profit somehow.
Of course it's not wrong to fuck over a company. They're definitely fucking over you.
Yeah "outsourcing" in tech like that is super common. Tech workers are also pissed about it because it lowers their relatively high wages and value by eliminating the scarcity in the field. Unfortunately a ton of "tech bros" hate it because of racist reasons too

You're collecting wage for 40 hrs/week when in actuality you're working at most 2.
Shut up shut up shut up shut up shut up!
They're so close to getting it. This is basically surplus value. I wonder what their view on that is (probably to deny its existence).
This would be a good one for the dunk tank.
