There is a lot of great stuff on here, but I tend to stay away from social media because it makes me too frustrated and belligerent (see comment history). The reason I always come back is it's difficult to manage and curate a feed without some kind of community. Do you have recommendations for RSS feeds, websites that don't require accounts to subscribe, or any other suggestions?

You could use social media without the social part

I have an insta account where I only follow local party planners and political orgs so every single post on my feed are just events

Here’s the thing, you don’t! Traditional media is fucking dead, it’s all owned by newscorp.

You have to engage with the online left if you want to remain current on all the issues.

Telling people to touch grass is so disingenuous because we have to use the internet in modern life to basically do anything.

Really you should be using the internet on company time and recognize it’s just as real as meatspace.

rss feeds of a few local news sources, get most of my national and international news/politics on here though, but you could sub to a bunch of news sites and get most of that still.

Most public news sites either have an rss feed or one can be generated with something like rss-bridge

I also get emails and texts from some orgs, but honestly mostly those aren't valuable or are straight up unsolicited and get unsubbed

I try to actively not be informed. Yet somehow I still am (somewhat) through friends and family. I think I'm generally a happier person not knowing about all the insane timeline stuff going on around me.

Like if you didn't know what trump and Elon were up to, would you really be missing out? And when you do eventually hear about it, how does it make you feel?

I think our day to day life is generally not effected by what the world is up to.
