It's a start up. It's going to attract millions of dollars, never accomplish anything but buying power from other power sources as an "intermediate solution", be bought up by someone with more money than sense as all the CEOs dip, then immediatly falter

  • Even in cities which are considered to have exceptional public mass transit, like Tokyo, rush hour on trains is awful. Not much you can really do about it from an infrastructure view point since trains are already arriving every 2 mins at peak times and they’re still crammed full.

Yeah, but cars are a different breed there as far as regulations and cost go.

That was my point. You change little else in your typical western nation (which seems what the comment is aiming at with easy regulation), i.e. you keep subsidizing the car to no end at every opportunity and stretching traffic out more will do nothing than get people back into the car because of cost/time/convenience mixed with a good bit of brainworms.

Changing nothing else it's a policy aimed at making it nicer to go by car and it will function as such.

  • There’s also quite easy policies that could make commuting much less awful even without much change to existing infrastructure.

Yeah, create a network of alternative means like public transport, cycling, e-scooters or whatever funky vehicle people wanna by barring cars from certain streets. It's a sign and a few poles.

Could you imagine if 1/3 of offices started work at 8, 9, and 10am respectively and ended 8 hours after that? Both public and private transport would be so much more pleasant without people cramming in at the same time to meet an arbitrary time.

You'd get more people driving lol

I'm convinced, I couldn't think of any other reason why a professional athlete could possibly have healthy hair and nails

Talking bout Trams, the local tram company was split in east and west afer WW2 for obvious reasons, but they kept servicing the same lines and also crossed the border (because no iron curtain then).

This stopped in 1950 as the eastern division employed female drivers and the western division was not okay with this, so the lines stopped at the border, you switched to an identical train on the identical line and then went on.

And then the west started dismantling tram lines so now west-berlin as 3 and east-berlin has 19.

  • How the fuck are half the posts "haha, I will show this to conservatives and they will not be able to deal with it"

Do mfers still not get they'll just call you a cuck? Holy shit are libs not the people that praise themselves for their scientific beliefs in opposition to the republicans? Yeah show them the studies you know they're not gonna take seriously you fucking brain geniuses

Doesn't the queen have like all the power and all the politicans just suggest her shit?

Like yeah, yeah, theoretically she'd be ousted if she ever disregarded any of it because britain is a free democracy but that's putting a lot of trust in the democracy of a country that, as noted, still has a fucking monarch as a head of state

  • Yeah I also love to share images from the buttmad-german-nationalist-spheres.

Don't get me wrong, there's cool football fan communities within germany but whenever the EM or WM starts you just see a rise in dumbfuck nationalism here that actually corellates to minorities being assaulted.

Yeah, the tweets in this image are fucking shit. So are 80% of the tweets of the german football sphere. They never stopped being super racist about the 7:1 against brazil a few years back.

Football fans on a national level, by and large, suck major fucking ass because it's not about the footy, it's about the nationalism. This entire country, and again, the football sphere, had an entire shitfit about not putting the rainbow colours on a stadium to own those savages in the east, the hungarians, and then went right back to largely being homophobic shitbags.

There's no good fandom for a national team.

The sole gay bar in Riga, Latvia (possibly the country?), according to the barkeep.

We were wondering what's up with the steel door with an number panel next to open windows where a bar could be seen our entire stay there and one night, hammered to the point my friend puked onto the streets, we decide to go check it out. What kind of secret club is this?

So we stand at the metal reinforced door with an access code, do the doorbell, they ask something in latvian which we don't understand, then they ask in english "Are you gay?" to which we reply "uhh no, why?" and they let us in.

The door opens and the first words from the barkeeper is "You know this is a gay bar, right?" and we're like "uhh no. We're straight, should we leave?" and he tells us we're very welcome to stay if we don't cause shit. We promise not to and get to chatting and getting even more fucking hammered.

Tells us the door there is because Latvia has a definitive homophobia problem, still, and they'd get raided otherwise by random drunkard cowards who are brave enough to waltz in somewhere and be shit, but not enough to smash windows. We ask him why he let us in and he was like "Anyone who answers that question wondering why it's asked is probably good to go" and he gives us a round on the house.

After that, things get fucking fuzzy. I remember being bought drinks by everyone there but then I did wake up with an empty wallet so I'm pretty sure I returned the favor. I kept getting hit on a, some of it kinda handsy (not really a problem for me personally), and the barkeeper had to keep telling latvian people we're straights. I'm pretty sure most of my money went to buying disappointed gay people there drinks for being straight after they hit on me. Next thing I remember is waking up, apparently we were there until like 9 in the morning according to our other friend who went home early. Apparently the latvian gay bar patrons can absolutely fucking hold their liqour, I swear to god I have never had a worse hangover than that and I've had some pretty fucking bad hangovers in my time. 10/10 would go there again though, great times.

The court called Cosby’s arrest “an affront to fundamental fairness, particularly when it results in a criminal prosecution that was forgone for more than a decade.”

I'm ESL and I genuinely had to check whether "foregone" had some meaning I was not aware of but nope
