Folks, I know Paparazzi and underlying culture super not great, but sometimes I wish other journalist had that kind of energy

I have respect for anyone who assaults a paparazzi after being harassed or stalked by them. Britney Spears going after them with improvised weapons was inspiring.

Oh, come on. Paparazzi aren't predatory. Celebrities call them to let them know where they'll be so they can get "candid" photos taken. I can't believe people don't know this in this day and age.

The ability to just do stuff is good - but the energy is bad, actually. Paparazzi exist specifically to make a quick buck - they're not apssionate about doing anything they can to uncover truth and yell truth to power, they are trying to sell trash to trashy employers for as much money they can squeeze to sell trash articles to distract people.

If there were a profit motive for energetically investigating the powerful then they might do good work. But that will never happen under our economic system.

Thank you for saying this. Paparazzi are mostly predatory and they focus on those they think will be the easiest targets. Their dismissal of social etiquette in the pursuit of power is impressive, however. I hope that is what this post is tapping into.

These days, celebs and paps have an arrangement, most celebs call the paps on themselves and only get photographed "candidly" however they've set up for it.

I do not support the current Paparazzi, but I will say if journalists/Paparazzi did those same things but to politicians and the bourgeoisie it would be based, and a service to society.
