It's oddly paced and pretty fuckin stupid sometimes, but I did enjoy it overall.

The source material is helped tremendously by a framing device that basically can't be adapted. On top of that, out of all the prequel available this chunk has too many dragons. They look bad on screen. It looks like shit when someone rides one. This was a problem in the original series and they definitely haven't figured it out yet. They got close in the finale, but it was shockingly bad in early episodes. Daemon harrying the stepstones looked about like the cockpit shots on Power Rangers.
