C/chicago is a ghost town, I bring the party to where the people are.
my gf is watching the news and it's her concession speech and she is falling for it. tell me bad shit about this neoliberal ghoul so i can counteract this haystack news propaganda
God where to start. She fought with the teachers union over putting a nurse in every school, sabotaged more than a few progressive measures meant to help inmates get better jobs and put homeless people in public housing, turned the loop into a playground for rich tourists, tried to pass a civil asset seizure bill that scared even other conservative city councilors, boosted the cop budget by $200 million, raised city bridges on protestors in 2020, helped institute a punitive youth curfew, was just generally a dick to everyone, etc., etc.
Jesus when even the chud politicians are scared of a neolib ghoul doing chud shit is when you know you got someone bad
I moved back to the city for a while and it was crazy how there was a cop car on EVERY intersection in the loop. Made me feel like I was in a YA dystopian novel.
wasn't Lightfoot supposed to be a Progressive Mayor tho?
she was: huge landmark in the history of pixie/sprite/elf representation.
No. I forget who's who from the last election, but she definitely had progressive opposition being undermined by the local media.
I'm optimistic. Vallas has a lot of money behind him and a good ground game, but he's also an obvious right wing piece of shit that even rich lakeside liberals don't like. He's wearing like three albatrosses already.
I don't think right-wingers have a chance in US municipal politics. Is there any major city with a GOP mayor? I can't think of one.
Vallas is a Democrat but he's on record considering becoming a Republican. He's also got ties to DeSantis by way of Chicago's police unions and his son is a San Antonio cop who shot a Black guy in the back last year. Johnson's team has a lot of ammo to work with.
I think they're decent. If Chicagoans understand that Vallas is a conservative they'll vote for Brandon.
