They’re socdems at worst, don’t think anyone who gets labeled breadtube is a lib. And some are actually socialists and marxists.
idk maybe. I think he is one of those anarchists who hasn't read any books and doesn't like communism because of the propaganda he has been surrounded by his whole life. hes still garbage either way though.
I think Abigail*/Philosophy Tube is probably an actual Marxist of some form

No joke his video on Antifa was probably what opened the door to leftism in a robust sense for me. I was a succdem before then, but over the last few years (since the video came out essentially) I've been becoming politically educated, organized, and much further left. It all started by realizing politics is so much more than electoralist reformism.
There's breadtube and then there's a bunch of other people who get lumped in with breadtube because they make videos and aren't reactionaries. Like, Lindsay Ellis is a liberal but she's not breadtube, she makes videos about media and stuff.
I think she also got lumped in because she’s friends with Natalie and a few of the others. She’s also criticises capitalism a bunch, but never goes into solutions or alternatives, and she’s also done a video on Marxist media criticism.
Oh, I haven't really watched a lot of her stuff, pretend I was talking about Jenny Nicholson then. She associates with leftist youtubers but doesn't really make many political statements beyond saying it's good to be nice and not a reactionary.
An anti-capitalist who doesn't talk about solutions or alternatives doesn't really sound like a liberal to me tbh. Voting for Biden doesn't make you a liberal.
Breadtube is leftism on youtube, there are no breadtube membership cards and there is no CEO of breadtube intent on using Noam Chomsky to propagandize against a state that doesn't exist.
Even if you're going to insist on this asinine definition where the word is owned by a specific subreddit, the subreddit doesn't even reflect what you're talking about.
There was already a term for left wing youtubers - LeftTube
Synonymous
If you want to see the sub you're talking about discussing the term
But, the sub isn't really relevant when most people using the term could give a shit about Reddit
I've slept on it and realized we've probably just seen people use the word differently, I'm gonna go make fun of rightists instead of talking semantics with someone I probably agree with 90%
Which *misinform people and take them down a false path of left anti-communism which makes porky the bourgeois pig squeal with delight because he doesn't care if you're anti-capitalist so long as you're ineffectual and fighting those people who actually are. Now beardtube... that's the stuff.
Citations: /r/breadtube reddit sub, infested with liberalism, idealism, and anti-communism
harris is acceptable purely for dunking on fo3 and defending based dark souls 2
Or a bunch of libs pretending to be radlibs pretending to be leftist. A lot of them exposed themselves over the last couple of months.
Skullboi is good and the Prolekult guy someone linked on here but he isn't breadtube. Also Three Arrows. Is he a socdem? The rest of them can piss off. Also Skullboi releases a video twice a year.
My first jacksaint video was the "sky high is fascism" he has only gotten better since then
Yeah I know it's a socdem symbol but that was my question. Is he a social democrat? I've never heard him give a definitive answer in the videos I've watched. Yeah the first reply I got was just like "cause it's cool looking."
I vaguely recall hearing he put out an anti-communist video saying people blaming the socdems for the fascists were actually wrong, so he's probably a dedicated socdem. It's generally easier to find answers like that in longform streamed or q&a videos probably.
Ho Chi Minh translated PhilosophyTube and Destiny to Vietnamese, and was able to teach high level Breadtube theory to illiterate peasant farmers.
And yet you western Leftists keep saying you don't need to watch theory or can't understand it
by the way, this tweet was in reference of a current breadtube drama of peter coffin vs everyone
Hasan Piker got that NYT write-up. Peter Coffin says it's an example of how people like him aren't a challenge to power and segues that into a criticism of Breadtube (mostly stating how neoliberalism's co-opting it slowly), which has been his thing to criticize for the past month or so at least (I don't follow him much). He and his crew make a blend of accurate and inaccurate (and usually pretentious) observations about how the left should be, how it should go beyond Breadtube, etc. Twitter people refuse to be normal and discussion breaks down into people arguing over tiny topics once the main topic's been lost in the haze of Twitter reposts and responses. Literally none of it's more useful or intelligent than stuff that's been said on Chapo.
peter coffin also used gamergate logic to implied the NYT write-up was payment from the journalist for sleeping with hasan and that she was an op in breadtube
Oh haha, did he do that? I didn't see that. He makes some valid points sometimes but he's so far up his own ass that he ruins his own credibility.
Totally. Valid points that could be summarised much shorter, but if I have to here about the fucking 'fake girlfriend' thing one more time I'll fucking lose it. Coffin just cannot stop talking about it.
Yeah, I can understand that, and I have sympathy, but it seems like a drum that just keeps getting beaten even when there's a tenuous link.
Peter has some great ideas, but their personality just grates on me a little.
Holy fuck lol. Source? Always thought there was something off about Peter
You should check out all the weird drama from before all his bread tube stuff, things about his girlfriend being made up and sockpuppeting as someone else? I only vaguely remember it but I remember it being really stupid
man started posting about "Breadtube elites".
surely he recognised that it was time to log off?
Oh thanks. I thought it was more complicated than that but never been on twitter so don't know how people argue there. Was expecting something more spicy but I can see how people's parasocial relationships can get in the way of criticism.
Just as how you should only vote for revolutionary politicians, you should only watch revolutionary YouTube channels. Only Hakim. There is no one else. And also hand tool woodworkers, they're okay, they're just craftsmen building stuff.
It's media analysis from a broadly leftist perspective. He actually has some pretty neat takes. It's movie and TV stuff but he does a darn good job.
Idk, bread tube definitely was a major influence on me moving left. There is a lot of legitimately good stuff in there. Especially Olly, Contra up to like a year ago. I still like Angie Speaks and Peter Coffin etc...
