my (former) catholic church growing up went through a period of Kenyan priests who were all extremely cool people, but that came to an end when the archdiocese decided to punish that church for being too "woke" (aka not willing to ostracize LGBT people) by making it share a priest with 3 other churches so that they would have to cut masses and sending the coolest Kenyan priest to a white suburban republican parish

now do the Columbia. Seeing the difference between the Fraser River and the Columbia from a salmon perspective is heartbreaking. The remaining populations in the columbia basin are realistically speaking in better shape than a lot of Fraser salmon but at least they can access 100% of the habitat in the Fraser watershed. the amount of habitat in the columbia basin that is permanently cut off by dam development is staggering. I get that dams like Grand Coulee (and even most of the non-fish-blocking dams on the columbia mainstem) can't ever come down without a radical restructuring of the PNW energy grid or agricultural infrastructure but there are so many nearly useless dams on major tributaries that basically don't do anything at this point except block fish passage and collect sediment.
I feel like James Buchanan is really hard to beat if you aren't evaluating them from a leftist perspective (trying to get into the lemmitor mindset here). He basically sat back and let everything deteriorate to the point where the civil war happened while occasionally pouring gasoline onto the fire

My favorite part of the r/somethingiswrong2024 sub is that they occasionally get mad at people for outlining outrageously convoluted scenarios where Kamala is working with the CIA and the DOJ to arrest Trump on January 6 but the reason they get mad is that the speculation is "probably" too close to the truth and could give Trump/Elon/whoever time to counteract the plan if people post about it on their 15000 member subreddit
