  • Have a read of this, https://neuroclastic.com/its-a-spectrum-doesnt-mean-what-you-think/

My experience is somewhat similar to yours. It's also highly likely that I could get an autistic diagnosis at some level/category (as defined by government for funding/support needs).

For me I’m not so concerned with that, as it's expensive, and I can't see it helping to a great degree, even if eligible for limited government funding/support (too much paperwork and rules for me to deal with easily). Your circumstances may be different, and a diagnosis may benefit you. I started HRT MtF a year ago and most people i meet now are either diagnosed, looking for a diagnosis or self-identify. Do whatever you think will help you.

I watch YouTube, listen to others, and try to deal with some of my quirks and issues in healthier ways. If I can do that successfully then I will really be able to improve my quality of life.

Having some sort of professional support does really help though. I managed to find a therapist for next to nothing who has been a real positive influence on my life. It's one of the reasons I haven't sought a diagnosis or visited the psychologist. Sometimes I thinks i might have better help via a psychologist, but the cost for that is much higher. Plus, if I’m not putting the effort in to deal with what I’ve covered in therapy, then I risk wasting my limited funds with the more expensive option.

  • It's so fucking depressing. If I had some sick leave left I would have taken some at the beginning of the conflict. I'd guess that most of my coworkers believe this. Plus there are the ones that come up to you unsolicited to try and get me to join in there dehuminisation and Muslim genocide glee. Thankfully they realise now that Im not going to validate their murderous genocidal tendencies. They still try it on with everyone else though. One day it would be nice to have a workplace without complete racist supremisisct homophobes.

  • If you want something easy you could try watching "to live 1994" there is a scene where they are trying to find a midwife during the cultural revolution. This scene pretty much sumed up the feeling I got while in China.

There is also the doco "China a century of revolution" would have a decent amount of time allotted to it.

It is absolutely ok to shit on the cultural revolution while in China. Like Mao is 90 percent good and 10 percent bad, and the bad is the Cultural Revolution.

I saw a play (based on true story) at Tsinghua Uni by Xiamen Uni that was massively critical. Mainly covering the theme of those that had skills (but not fanatics) being seen as counter revolutionary by zealots.

Plenty of historic Buddhist stuff was smashed up. I was told that the best way to save stuff was to put a picture of Mao over the face of a statue to prevent damage.

I could say more, not all bad either, but it would all be off the cuff with no book suggestions....

If you do find some good reading let me know if you find anything regarding the potential of a PLA split. My professor suggested this in passing but I haven't been able to find anything and haven't gone back to discuss.

It's all pretty foggy in my mind now. Enjoy your research.

Looking back the process was relatively easy but hugely stressful at the time. After applying you will have full work and health rights but no social security. Also your partner has to not have any DV history. Took me 2 years but I hear times have blown out. After full partner visa is approved you can break up but still stay in the country and start process to citizenship. Only saying because ours was a bumpy ride to get there and your partner can end the process at any time (for non abusive reasons). There are some protections against partners using the visa as amanipulative tool.

There is an offshore marriage visa where you wait to be approved then travel to Australia to get married. Other option is to arrive on a tourist visa and then get 'married/registered' and apply for a partner visa (don't say this on arrival or entry will be denied). The only need to do marry/ register is to avoid the 12 month living together arrangement. I was told by an agent that the most important thing is the letter/statement form family/friends saying how great your relationship is and detailing engagements as a couple. You need at least 2 or your application is invalid and will be rejected.

There are other ways. A partner visa will be 8000 AUD without an immigration agent. There are state based visas that direct your study into skills shortage list. Either way start saving. You don't have to get married either. I chose to sign up for a "significant relationship" to waive the 12month living together requirement. It's what people did before gay marriage existed.

  • Whatever the response I'd say China is in for a rough ride. A friend in China was pro let it rip and I explained that an American style response would probably leave 5 million dead and an Australian style response would leave 1 million (quick calc). He didn't really care, he just wanted the restrictions to end. What was worrying was he had only had 2 shots and he talked about the distrust in locally made vaccinations. I could believe this as I noticed when I was there the huge distrust in locally made products (or the consideration that foreign is better). I really hope China's vaccination rate is high enough. Granted he is the most anti gov Chinese guy I met. So take it with a grain of salt.
