  • A well done dub can sound better than the original for its intended audience. I've only seen it done well with western animation tho, anything live-action sounds terrible and I've never seen a good anime dub in my native language.

  • One Piece. It has this sense of wonder and freedom, and is so versatile as a setting, but also not (just) whimsical. A lot of the conflicts revolves around historical wrongdoings, misunderstandings and conspiracies. That coupled with the different cultures of every island and a cool power system gives the setting some real vibrance.

I also have a soft spot for ordinary settings with supernatural underbellies (is that what people call magical realism? idk).

and less creative/fun than it was when it was released

That's what frustrated me, the game felt more railroady as it went on. The most fun thing in CCGs for me is discovering an iteraction you never thought of before and trying it out.

It might be a fun phone game if I can resist the impulse to grind for some stupid legendary that will most definetly suck.

Yeah I was a fan of Runeterra's mechanics and the gauntlet mode from what I played on release. Was just waiting for more cards to come out since I like to brew janky stuff and the card pool was kind of small for that. Might get back into it.

  • I wish the game was quicker with the unlocks, what makes the game fun for me is player experimentation with how the tiles interact.

The gear thing is mostly true so far except for the necromancer where lower level gear can be better depending on the effect. There is some tricks to tile placement but it mostly has to do with giving you character some breathing room and ultilizing corners and straight lines.

I am annoyed that the game got it's hooks on me because I've already spent like 10 hours on it.

  • I’d at least feel better if they reimplemented hamon and integrated it within the stands.

I think Araki at least considered it, at the start of part 3 stands were still linked to breathing. He really makes this shit up as he goes along, doesn't he?

Also, hamon as a battle system peaked at Zeppeli punching that frog.

  • Maybe I should give it another go. I liked it the first time through but it was kind of uneven. York New arc, election and some parts of Chimera Ants are great but some parts were a drag (specially the training arcs). It also took some time for me to stop disliking Killua, even after he dropped the edgy assassin bs.

I also think I would like it better if I accept that the story ends with Gon meeting his father.

Dark Continent?? What is that?? Get those ugly black and white squiggles away from me!!

  • Yep. Tried AoT again since the new season is airing and my friends won't shut up about it. Forced myself to finish the first season. The show has it's merits but it feels gross.

Almost every character is an absolute lobotomized military freak. There's reddit atheist level commentary on religion. Armin get's introduced trying to destroy bullies with their own logic. That weird as fuck chud fantasy Mikasa and Eren backstory.

I know it's all setup for some nazi allegory thingy (the second opening being basically an anthem in german was really subtle guys), but you can feel an open contempt for people that I don't see going away.
