This level of transparency and working with the community while self reflecting and being open to discussion is such a breath of fresh air on the Internet. Thanks for all the hard work the team does to help achieve that while trying to ensure the safety of our most vulnerable users.

As for the ND community on here, I'd love to see that revived and also expanded to include disability rights as a whole.

  • A giant tomboy, having attachment to the "weird girl" characters, pretending to be Tuxedo Mask while my friends down the street were Sailor Scouts, avoid wearing any type of bra for the longest time and not understanding why anyone would want to emphasize them, discomfort with tight clothing, picking boy characters more than girl ones, etc. Granted some of that is also the neurodivergence-- I think being autistic was a factor in my journey since I wasn't attached to or aware of a lot of the social aspects of gender presentation, anyways. I consider myself nonbinary but also butch (butch-as-gender).

That's fair! I'm sure there are decent ones out there, it's finding them that seems to be difficult in no small due to tech culture (and especially combined with corpo culture). 😔

  • :dean-smile: because their admins are proactive in reaching out to us and it's a relatively small, niche community. Speaking as someone who's learning programming (and this might be a conflict of interest in that case), we need less reactionary techies and the field (like all labor) could really benefit from collective action.

I'm relatively new here, so with that context in mind... I'm glad I was able to find out this place exists after it disappearing on reddit-logo but even so, opening to federation like this should not come at the cost of our trans comrades and comrades of color. I'm all for defeding from all but grad (and maybe lemmy.ml), as well as keeping applications in place for the foreseeable future. People are well aware of this place by now; Those that want to participate will find a way, or lurk as they learn.
