  • My expectation is not much. Maybe moderation policies will change to be more friendly to the right. I think that a lot of the people who have been getting paid in stock will quit after they get their cash payout and they'll have a hard time hiring people going forward, especially if they (1) start demanding return to office and (2) stay in san francisco due to cost of living. The salary they will pay may not be able to keep pace with the wider industry that offsets salary costs through diluting investors, so they'll have a harder time hiring. Elon is kinda polarizing even in the tech industry so that may not help.

So basically I think that there will be some policy changes but anything that requires developers will be deprioritized. Twitter is already really slow to ship changes, this will only make them slower.

amazing that the federal government can coerce states into a specific drinking age but are powerless to stop shit like this

  • I wonder what will happen with employee compensation since a lot of tech companies pay most of the employee salary in stock.. Could lead to an exodus of employees?

Edit: yeah ok im looking at dell compensation on levels and they dont really do stock as part of the offer, and the base pay isnt really any better than what you'd get at a public company. So if this turns out to be anything like Dell they're just going to have a really hard time competing for good people. Probably worse than a startup because at a startup there's always the dream of IPO or acquisition.

  • i saw this blog post (from a year ago) posted - https://tilde.team/~kiedtl/blog/hare/ .. not exactly a raving review..seems kinda interesting (proper namespacing/modules) .. i wouldnt personally have a use for it even though i use "systems languages" for almost everything because of their desire to avoid proprietary operating systems.
