  • I think the excellent "full spectrum resistance" has a very good chapter on what it takes for someone to be radicalized, breaking it down into three needs, personal galvanizing experiences(experiencing racism, getting bonked on the head by a cop, etc)

radical catalysts(time and space to ponder things, analytical tools to examine experiences, intrinsic optimism that things can get better)

    and action needs,
A community of people to take action with. Models for action. A mental narrative of how social change happens (or an imminent danger that demands immediate response). A sense that winning is possible, or perhaps that they have nothing left to lose. Biographical availability.

If they dont have these things, they can become embittered, soured, "curdled idealists" and not active in their pursuits.

I think if you can help a given person find these "radical triad" , encourage them to read analytical marxist books, help attend protests with a friend or other models of action, etc. than that can be a powerful way to create an active radical.

  • Kaiserreich's Left Kuomintang game-play is the gold standard against which all other HOI4 mods, demonstrably leftist or otherwise must be judged. It is engaging, reasonably ideologically coherent, uplifting(or not if you pursue one of the less savory paths), full of different choices that will impact the long term dynamics and where your new government ends up, tactically and strategically engaging with lots of different ways to engage in wars and alliances and perfectly utilizes the new HOI4 government power struggle mechanics.

  • so it goes. I almost think the fans are more annoying lol. "eren is the coolest dude ever really understanding power is the will to seize it " type beats. The fights remain chefs kiss though. and the armored/colossal titan reveal is an all time great moment.

  • The creator is demonstrably a fan of far right japanese ultranationalism, WW2 war crime revisionist, and big fan of a noted Japanese colonialist general who he personally based one of the characters off of.

I think the show/manga is a complicated affair, lots of different ways of reading into portrayals of military might, the horrors of war, depictions of minorities, enough so that I wouldn't say its full throat-ed "fascism" , but the creators views are unambiguous. A brief trawl through top google searches about him and controversies is enough.

  • Not saying I agree, but an excerpt from the strangers, Seattle's progressive mag, endorsement guide for your reference.

We know, we know. Voting ‘No’ on the first question aligns us with a bunch of odious conservatives who drop tens of thousands of dollars on local elections every year in an attempt to hoard their treasure. We know those same oligarchs dropped a bunch of money to back the ‘No’ campaign on this very measure, too. But they’re voting ‘No’ because they don’t want to learn new tricks. We’re voting ‘No’ because we want the best form of ranked-choice voting, and we want to make sure it sticks.

The short version of our argument goes like this: We love ranked-choice voting, and we vastly prefer it to approval voting, and so we really really really want you to choose Proposition 1B on the second question. That would send a clear message to state and local politicians that you want RCV.

But choosing this particular version of RCV in this particular way could create more hurdles to implementation than need be. We think taking a more plugs nose orderly approach to changing our electoral system could bring the best of all possible RCVs to Seattle with fewer headaches, and we think we could still do it on a timeline that more or less tracks with the 2027 deadline that this measure would impose. If that’s enough reasoning for you, then vote ‘No,’ and then vote ‘Proposition 1B,’ and then move on with your beautiful life.

  • Electronic earpro is an excellent and worthwhile upgrade. Makes it a lot easier to hear range commands, etc. In addition its just objectively better than in ear foam for other reasons.

Howard leight is probably the minimum viable. Sordins, basic or pro, are probably the logical next upgrade thats sub 200. Comtacs and Ops Core amps are high end.

a nice pair of gel pads for them goes a long way too in increasing comfort with eyepro, etc.

remember to double up on earpro if shooting indoors or beside someone with an obnoxious muzzle brake.

  • I am fairly earnestly of the opinion that the AR is the superior home defense weapon in the states. That being said it also comes with the caveat of probably needing earmuffs or a suppressor in order to accurately function in home defense situation. an AR also due to its ease of use and broad effective range also ranks highly on community defense needs. Frankly if youre in the USA and wanna get into AR's dm me and I can help you find a good one/build a good one

I just think a shotgun is gonna require a lot more practice and also any load you have in the shotgun that wont penetrate drywall(I often see fudds recommend birdshot which is turbo illegal) wont penetrate a meat sack either so what are you really using the gun for anyway.

if youre shooting at someone, you are shooting to kill, full stop.

I think if you are really not gonna do anything else with the gun, then a glock 19, decent carry ammo, and oem glock mags is probably the absolute bare minimum for home defense, please at least watch some videos on how to practice dry fire though and get some in depth knowledge on your laws, what counts as self defense, what brandishing is and why you absolutely should not do it, etc etc

Hunting is its own ballgame and im not as familiar with that quite yet.

  • The best HD gun, assuming all other things are equal, is an AR or a similar style of gun in a HVSC intermediate cartridge. Compared to that option, a shotgun is longer, heavier, harder to aim, has worse sights, worse recoil, worse capacity, lower reliability, is not drop safe, penetrates further through walls, is louder, is more likely to cause collateral damage via the 9th pellet flyer issue, and is more prone to user induced malfunction via short stroking. Which if you havent fired a shotgun under stress is definitely gonna happen.

  • glock 19 is, all other things considered, the go to standard: weapon mounted light is very necessary if you have any intention of using it at night(half the time): Holster is necessary for anything other than keeping it hidden in the house: red dot is critical for acquisition of good set of basic skills and is worlds better than irons: practice practice practice is absolutely essential if you're even remotely considering buying a firearm : best of luck

  • If you have particularly odd sized hands might be worth going to a gun shop and trying the feel of various pistols but otherwise--- get a glock 19 with this slightly sneaky coupon workaround.

    1. Fill out web form at https://user.gssf.pro/register/go with payment info
    2. Wait for coupon card to mail and search https://us.glock.com/en/dealer-locator-usa
    3. Take coupon, drivers license and down payment to dealer and wait for background check to clear and they can ship the model there
    4. (Bonus step) compete in GSSF competition for practice
    5. Buy streamlight tlr1 or modlite weapon mounted light, safariland or phlster holster and red dot to be milled by jagerwerks or other reputable company: holosun 509 model recommended!
    6. Practice with more OEM or pmags and pick up federal HST or speer gold dot for carrying
