We are a space station, not a starship, so you’ll be spending a lot of time with all these delightful side characters like: bisexual nonbinary fashion lizard. hologram of Frank Sinatra. goblins. goblin comes in 3 varieties: bartender, nephew, and idiot union agitator. :rommunism:

our doctor is a twink, our commander is antifa/ maoist and the captain talks to the gods sometimes when not leading a protracted people’s war. our constable is sometimes a liquid and possibly ace. the science lady is trans and part worm. :dax-stoked:

we have many fine storylines, such as: Goblin Does A Crime, Watch The Irishman Suffer, Linear Time is A Lie, or The Horrors Of War. As you stroll along our promenade enjoying a raktajino or delicious jumja stick, watch out for our nefarious villains: Pope Karen. capitalism. clones of Jeffrey Combs. and a horny bastard reptile man who seems convinced this is actually his show. we suspect he may be possessed by demons. Have fun!

Deep Space Nine: now with Worf™! :warf-wtf: .

The best episode of the series is certainly "In the Pale Moonlight". The Federation is losing the war, so Sisko comes up with a plan to plant a false flag on a Romulan Senator blaming the Dominion and thus bring thier badly needed ships into the war. He has to do all sorts of dirty deeds, it gets pretty dark. But every time he feels regret, there's more news about how the Federation just suffered another defeat and things are even worse. He digs himself a big hole, finally presents the forgery to the Romulan...only for him, in the series' best moment ever, to hiss "It's a faaaake! " In the commercial break that followed, I was seriously alarmed for the future of the Federation. The rest would be spoilers, but the episode is well worth watching even if you're not a DS9 fan.

Trials and Tribble-ations is great and hard to describe as it is more. far more than fan service, it is actual dedication and commitment to the whole thing. It is still impressive even today and is one of the main reasons I hate Kurtzman Trek.

The cast seemed to enjoy it a lot and it is incredibly fun and I am not into TOS at all beyond appreciating that it exists. There are some memorable moments too, like the Odo/Worf talk about tribbles, fucking "mortal enemies of the Empire" is just pure nonsense but Worf makes it entirely believable imo.

The thing I like about T&T versus the new TOS-era Trek stuff is that T&T knows that TOS looks like crap, but it plays around with it and it feels very humble when showing its roots. It appreciates the old show while also poking fun at it.

Kurtzman Trek feels like it's embarrassed by the fact that Star Trek was once a show that had buttons glued to cardboard sets and blinky lights, and the ship was a cute little model that flew past the camera. It's just like "actually TOS never happened, everything was always cold blue-tinged steel and all displays and consoles were all floating holograms (don't get me started on how much I hate transparent holograms as a display and touchscreen), and everyone was zipping around at infinite speed and all ships had a shuttle contingent of 10,000 (if that shitty Season 2 finale of DIS is to be taken seriously)". Oh, and we also just have all this technology that people in the older shows said was brand new but now it's been around for a century. Riker walking into the holodeck with wonder and awe was because he was an idiot who never saw this 100-year-old technology. What a dipshit.

Even the edgiest the show got in Berman-era with ENT still had a fair amount of care put into it to show that it was still a TOS-prequel. A great deal of attention was paid to the set to make it look both futuristic for the 00s but also like a precursor to sci-fi from the 60s. DIS and PIC just look like every other shitty sci-fi property out there.

There's no love. They just treat old-Trek like something that you can harvest images, references, and iconography from.
