I went to 4chan during the Michael Brown protests and let me tell you. I saw the fucking heart of darkness. I saw the absolute irredeemable soul of misanthropy on full display. I was doing it to keep tabs of their bullshit but it got so depressing I just couldn't do it anymore.
4chan and its unchecked, unchallenged psychopathy is the exact reason why I have gone from being a succdem who cherishes human rights to a full-blown tankie.
I found that racial humor is basically how racists keep their ideas alive. It was never ironic because they believed it, they were just selling it as a joke.
It also let them back out and say "I was just kidding." when called out on it.
There's an anecdote where a guy is sitting in a bar, and the bartender is being a normal dive bar asshole bartender, and everything is groovy. Then a big, biker looking guy with a vest and a bunch of tattoos comes in, sits that the bar. The Bartender says "Get out." and points at the door. The guys says "Hey I just want a drink, man". The bartender pulls a bat out from behind the bar and says "Get the fuck out, now". The biker shrugs and leaves. The guy sitting at the bar is shocked. The bartender looks at him and says "That guy had a bunch of white power tattoos and patches. They're not obvious but I've seen them before. If I let that guy drink here he'll come back with a couple of his buddies. And they'll come back with a couple of their buddies. And then this will be a nazi bar. You've got to shut them down right away." Then the bartender goes back to washing glasses and ignoring the guy.
