Liberal arts, along with being incredibly necessary for many parts of a functioning society like sociology (right?) and architecture, also grant us the vision to turn gray blobs of laboratories and actuarial super computers into a place worth sticking around for. If you walked around seeing nothing but people in gray uniforms, no make up, no hats, no murals on the walls, no statues, gray slabs on concrete erected everywhere, it would be bleaker. Music would be nothing but metronomes.
This post brought to you by brutalism is not aesthetic gang
Edit: seeing some feedback from brutalism gang. I'd just like to add 🤪👉❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤🦚🦚🦚🦠🦠🦠🚥🚦🚥🎨🎨🎨
By buying into the brutalism = oppressive society shit you're buying into a chud framing of beauty. Join a gang for that, chump. Go wank over an ionic column.
You don't need to be a chud to be turned off by a brutalist aesthetic.
Uhh colors are reactionary sweaty
Without giant walls of concrete on buildings, how are you going to provide space for the most proletarian of art forms: graffiti art?
You can always pull a Michael Bloomberg and attach cardboard to the sides of buildings and graffiti on top of it
I fucking hate 99% of brutalism, but totally agree with this comment.
the corinthian do be lookin kinda good doe
Damn, now I have to wank over an ionic and corinthian column? Give me a break my workload is getting intense here
Forgive me if I don't like a bunch of white and gray marble. We need some color in here otherwise you're a boring bugman.
Ancient Greece and Rome wasn't completely white like reactionaries portray it to be, they don't have to be plain
Neither does brutalism. Brutalism isn't colorless. Unless you buy into the LOL COMMIEBLOCK shit. You know, like reactionaries portray it. Also every example of roman architecture since it was revived was white and gray. Please stop being sarcastic like you know what you're talking about.
I'm not a fan of brutalism in general because it doesn't feel inviting. Commieblocks aren't works of beauty but they're built to house people, and they actually had good quality accommodations, from what I've read. Whatever. It's better than being homeless. Ofc Roman architecture revival is white and gray, they were either designed by ignorant architects, "western civilization" losers or both. They are missing color as well. There's more to architecture than just color too, such as ornament, which isn't exclusive to Roman Architecture. These are just personal aesthetic preferences. This is the internet, people aren't entirely sincere. I don't pretend to be some sort of expert, just suggesting that maybe having more color would be a good thing. The comment about the columns wasn't series ofc, I don't gain pleasure browsing pics of columns. Maybe I overdid it, maybe I come off as an oversensitive piece of shit. I'm awful at interacting with people. Sorry. I've been online too long.
