Most available applications of the bugs in the global North are in flour form, so the texture is not such a big issue. You add them to other dishes to supplement nutrition. I personally dislike this approach to food, but if it gets you trying them, why not.
If you want to try and make your own, search for videos of how to make "tacos de chapulines" (it helps if you can understand Spanish). In my experience, the simplest, tastiest bug dish I've had.
I once had some kind of worm candy. I didn't like it. The inside of the worms was very fatty in an off-putting way and somehow the shells were crunchy in a nasty "I'll stay in your mouth forever no matter how much you chew" kind of way.
I'm not saying that there isn't any good bug preparations out there but this was not one of them.

I'd like to try bugs, I'm just wary of the texture, any experiences or tips for preparation?

Eat some crunchy maleun saewoo bokkeum. Dried fried crunchy tiny shrimp.
That sounds really interesting. I'll give it a try, too!
Make sure to eat it with rice and lots of other side dishes for the authentic experience
One of my best friends is Korean, I'll try to convince her to cook a whole meal around it together!
Make sure to ask for dubu jorim too!
