kkkanada She's trans, I am sure it isn't her first rodeo meeting her cabal after writing the orange book. plus, if maria is at all a self insert of the author, which i think she is after hearing her speak, then she would probably love the autistic transfem in the audience losing their shit.

Maria Griffiths works exactly the same bookstore job that Imogen Binnie did at the same timeframe, their lives are verrrry similar at least. Also though...

kobeni-sweat Nah that's super fucked up not a chance. I've come dangerously close to brushing shoulders with authors of this stuff online before, and it feels like at once I have all the questions in the world and cannot think of anything to ask. Also like, who gave me the authority to grill people for interviews? I could not be remotely normal. Best I could manage is like

"Hello ma'am thank you for giving me my entire personality for life when I was a kid, really a clutch move" ?

I think Binnie is rad but you only read someone's blog or whatever and their nutting into a teacup once, you know? She's not my Online Patron Saint, her book is but all the authors of A Novels are just people, I know because they talk online. Seeing Alison Rumfitt respond to fucking Halimede was the least nomral moment in this saga.

It's not really an idolisation problem, more that this freak subsection of books has become an utter obsession in my life. They're great fun to read and discuss, but it's probably best not to dig in too far cause I am nooooot regular normal

Lmao that was just a post on Binnie's blog, it's about a lack of info on reproductive health in trans women. Her girlfriend analysed her sperm counts. basil-anxious-smile I kinda feel like I shouldn't be saying this, but she just put it out there online so it's fine I guess?

Alison Rumfitt just riffed on the post where Halimede is like, extending apologies to all the trans who have ever been insulted and how they must be so strong or w/e. As an interaction not notable at all, but anytime the Crusty Old A Novels world crashes into the Hip Internet Trans world, it kinda breaks my perception for a sec.

I guess the throughline is like, analysing the texts and stuff is fun, digging into people's personal lives not so much, which is what the research into authors boils down to. Even reading blogs or interviews can feel uncomfortably voyeuristic, like why do I know any of this?
