Capitalist society certainly exaggerates our symptoms, but doesn't cause them. Telling us we're methheads because of capitalism is not a good look.

I'm ADHD as fuck and agree his take is kind of dumb but I'm not really offended by it. You can say that capitalism "causes your disorder" in that it probably wouldn't be seen as a disorder if it weren't for capitalism, which is different from saying it wouldn't exist. I'm not sure what he really meant. Anyway I have no scruples about the fact that what I take is basically speed lol.

I have ADHD and it 100% would be a disorder without capitalism, sometimes I can't even pay attention to people when they're talking to me

I feel you. Reading something I'm invested in, and line by line there's a struggle where I'll find my mind elsewhere and staring out the window. Watching something I like, listening to a podcast, continuously rewinding because I missed it. I think my introverted-ness comes from both being constantly distracted and not wanting to make others feel like I'm not really there with them. The amount of partners asking "what are you thinking about?" and I snap back to them and am like... I don't even know, nothing? everything? is... a lot

Me reading: "I'm bored. I should skip ahead."

          skips ahead

Also me reading: "shit I'm missing important context."

goes back to point where I skipped ahead

I'm pretty sure the reason I "learn so quickly" is because I have to read things four times just to get to the end.

I am gonna go full anprim here. The drive to get distracted when other cavepeople where explaining where rain came from would only have added to survival chances.

Like, the head man is going on about the frogs talking to clouds again and you notice a bee off in the distance you can follow to some rad honey.

Anprim is looking more and more appealing every day. Working 4 hours a day picking berries and throwing sharpened rocks at animals then coming home, feasting, and having a tribal orgy sounds like Valhalla to me.

It is literally what we were born to do. Every bit of most of our DNA was tuned to function perfectly at that effort. In my essay about the importance of creating erotic battle anime in the future FALGSC I will....

Anyway I have no scruples about the fact that what I take is basically speed lol.

One of my favorite things is flippantly referring to my medication as The Fun Drugs(tm) even though the only fun I derive from it is fun-ctioning

Yeah I don’t personally have scruples about the speed either, but I really DO NOT like it when neurotypical people refer to it as speed/meth. Kinda like how I wouldn’t want straight cis people referring to me as queer even though I am queer.

Many ADD drugs are amphetamines. I don't judge addicts or recreational drug users negatively for their use so drawing comparisons between drugs that are in the same class as the ones I use isn't something that I see as offensive in the slightest, but to each their own.

Yeah I don’t judge addicts or recreational users either. The reason it bothers me when NTs use those terms is because it’s almost always accompanied by fun NT opinions such as:

          -saying that ADHD is fake

-saying that I’m faking my ADHD to get drugs (with bonus implication that recreational users are bad)

-saying that I should go off my medication because using amphetamines at all is bad regardless of the reason and I’ll be just fine without

This is a great point, it's like someone who says that nazis called themselves "national socialists" or that Abraham Lincoln was a member of the republican party. They technically haven't said anything wrong yet, but it's always accompanied by other garbage opinions.

You can literally feel them doubt your disability as it happens.

Usually accompanied by a facial expression that says, "you can't have adhd. you're not a spaz"

You can "not judge" addicts or recreational drug users and ALSO understand that there is a difference between someone using a drug recreationally and using it to treat a neurodevelopmental disorder. That's why it bothers me when people like this are all "lol just admit you're on speed just like recreational users - oh you're offended? Why do you hate drug addicts you asshole? Oh you think you're better than everyone else?" Just... shut up dude (tweeter, not you). We all understand that the drug is the same. We can also agree that what one person is doing with it is different than the other without saying that either of them is a bad person.

I love abusing drugs...just not adderall.

Weirdly, I prefer the non-chemically addicting drugs. Too terrified of my addictive personality to try opiates tho.

Good point, but mildly disagree. Anyone who loses things they're holding in their own hand as much as I do has a disorder.

I love my meth derivative! Not really offended by it either, but I know other comrades might be. I refer to it as "my morning meth".
