  • Also, that rule is for discouraging sectarian shitflinging like ML vs Anarchist.

The positions taken on this subject will have a much more consequential impact on animal suffering than the degree to which your morality expresses discomfort with animal abuse and slaughter.

A successful socialist society full of dickheads would present fewer barriers to going vegan than a capitalist one with righteous views on animal suffering.

How many workers are just going to pick up a cheese and pepperoni pizza instead of either spending what little free time they have learning recipes and shopping for fresh ingredients or asking their kids to eat beans and rice or PBJs every day?

People disregard their morals for convenience, benefit, or profit all the time. Placing morality on a pedestal is non-materialist thinking and your approach to promoting veganism should account for something that doesn't get thrown into the trash heap the moment shit gets real.

  • As someone who eats meat, but is taking steps to reduce my consumption, vegans are my comrades, no amount of diet-based name calling is going to change that.

We all have an interest in reducing suffering of all forms, and this community is about the only place we can have productive conversations on how to go about reducing suffering without having to constantly fend of chuds.

I completely understand the heinousness that comes from meat production, and I agree with the urgency to end it, but I think many of the most aggressive vegans are falling into the same trap that fossil fuel companies set up to convince people that the climate can be saved if only individuals just recycled more and purchased more "green" products.

The phrase, "there is no ethical consumption under capitalism" applies to meat production and factory farming too. If you want to end meat production, you would treat this place like we treat baby-leftist & bernie-adjacent communities on :reddit-logo: and use this forum as a place for raising the food production analogue to class consciousness.

Posting visceral footage of farming conditions goes a lot further than calling people murderers for just trying to eat in a world that doesn't give a fuck if you starve. Posting vegan recipes would help reduce barriers of entry to an already sympathetic audience. Save the hyperbolic rhetoric for the echo-chambers, because this is about the friendliest community you'll find to your cause that isn't explicitly a forum for vegans.

Let's be real here, behaving like ultras and expecting anything less than perfection from an imperfect world is neither going to be effective nor will convince others to reduce their meat consumption. Imagine if at every turn down the leftist path, there was someone further down that path calling you a psychopath for voting for capitalist Bernie or supporting an ineffective org.

You know who loves hyperbolic rhetoric that harbors deep divisions between members of a socialist community...

This is exactly what "research" means to the libs.

i.e. running to a corporation for quick infotainment tidbits that either confirm existing prejudices or otherwise make excuses for imperialist tendencies.

All they need to believe anything is a screencap of the title of an article from the Washington Post.

Why do people go to coffee shops, especially ones like Starbucks? It takes no effort to make a pot of coffee and every gas station in existence sells the same product far cheaper anyways. Their primary market seems to be libs who work in an office with a coffee machine.

Like I get the "I'm chilling at a table in a cafe talking to a friend" coffee shop, but not the standing in line for burnt bean water coffee shops.
