hot take: it's a good, funny show. michael's cringe of season 1 is hard to bear, but when you watch it and realize he is acting how he thinks cool people act on camera, it helps that a bit. he's endearing when he doesn't feel the need to be "on." Creed is a very funny side character; the Jim & Dwight dynamic is entertaining, the Jim & Pam will they/won't they is cute; Angela is funny, Mose is funny, Andy Bernard is great to hate, Toby really is the worst. don't let your jaded post-ironic sense of humor prevent you from finding humor in things. not everything needs to be an anti-capitalist critique

there's also a major thread of the show that corporate can never figure out how Michael gets such good results out of his employees, and by the time he leaves it has become clear that the Scranton office does so well because their idiot major literally does nothing. the employees get to work. Michael is an utter dipshit, sure, but he would never seriously fuck with people. everyone knows that the only person who would fuck with them is in corporate, and they're mostly focused on Michael being really outwardly dumb. is The Office lib? sure, of course it is. is it something lib that can easily be read as Leftist? yup. Michael Shur (one of the writers, Mose) is certainly not a comrade, but it seems like he mostly can't help pointing out how downright dumb white collar lib society is.

Wasnt michaels cringe the whole point of his character? He’s someone who tries too hard because as a boss he would be listened to and he mistakes that as respect?
