If even one of you gets a post removed during one of these bit struggle sessions you failed the bit and should feel immense shame. Doing a bit successfully is Praxis.

Find things to struggle about that doesn't get out of hand. It's important to let off some steam now and again but do it in a way that doesn't harm your fellow comrades or add work to the mod team.

I'll start: Some beans are better than other beans. Like kidney beans are bad nasty icky beans but black beans are actually amazing.

Methamphetamine is good for two reasons:

    1. At a therapeutic dose methamphetamine, aka Desoxyn, is less neurotoxic than other stimulant medications which are used to treat ADHD (and potentially other conditions but that's more speculative and off the beaten path for psychiatry) and this is important because it provides a much-needed alternative for situations where the more conventional stimulant meds are not tolerated or ineffective for any number of reasons. Honestly if it weren't for the stigma there's a good chance that on the basis of risk of harm to the patient and effectiveness, Desoxyn would be given preference over Adderall and lisdexamphetamine.

    2. The discovery of methamphetamine and the widespread usage of it, aka Pervitin, critically undermined the Nazi war effort because they were able to utilise it to achieve early gains and it allowed for pushing Nazi soldiers to run on virtually no food, both of which looked good on paper especially in the early stages of the war but it was entirely unsustainable and so it made the top brass of the Nazi armed forces completely overestimate their abilities, thus leading them to overextend themselves and especially to overextend their soliders which led to a paper tiger effect where the Nazis appeared to be much more threatening but, when facing stiff resistance, they tended to crumble.

    Hate Nazis? Support neurodivergent folks?

    Love meth!

Destigmatize and legalize all drugs and then provide proper health care for people who use them and probably all drugs have some redeemable qualities.

Meth is really only a "bad" drug because of who primarily uses it and how it's made but both of those are pretty much intentional systemic issues rather than an issue with the drug itself

Methamphetamine is a really interesting test case because most people will be comfortable with opioids, despite the issues they cause due to addiction and abuse, because they also have therapeutic value but when you drop the idea that meth is in a similar boat - good therapeutic value despite serious issues with addiction and abuse - it tends to sit really uncomfortably with a lot of people.

I’m a bean centrist. The best bean is the bean you have. All beans have their place, and that place is my stomach, turning into farts.

In my culture we fart and then immediately ritualistically inhale it. Beans are our guide to this heaven. Stop appropriating my culture.

Also if some culture actually does do this I'm sorry I'm not trying to make fun of you / them and I'll be the first to fail the bit

Upbeared because I completely disagree with this take.

Black beans are absolutely, 100% superior as chilli beans in every way - taste, texture, ease of preparation.

Kidney beans belong in two places and two places alone: in rajma masala and in the F-tier for beans.

This is absolutely wrong. Kidney beans are the best chilli bean BC it's how my dad did it and it makes me think of my childhood when I eat chilli.

If you like chilli with kidney beans and you like North Indian cuisine then rajma masala is going to be right up your alley.

It's been a long time since I have made this dish and I discovered this website long after I last made rajma masala but its recipes have never failed me:

          https://www.spiceupthecurry.com/red-kidney-beans-curry-punjabi-rajma/

That recipe relies upon a pressure cooker because every Indian household has one but you can always skip that step by draining two 400g/14oz cans of kidney beans instead.

Yes! Recently I've been having tons of bean wraps with air fried beans covered in hot sauce and mixed with fresh onion, tomatoes, and lettuce. The beans gain a somewhat substantial texture, so they aren't just mush lol

Okay I haven't tried this. Is it basically puffed kidney beans? Liked puffed rice? Is this actually good or is this part of the bit because I would totally try this

I think that puffing requires high pressure, sort of like a pressure cooker, to achieve except in the case of popcorn because it's capable of achieving a similar level of pressurisation through the kernel that you'd get from a pressure cooker.

In the air fryer I'd expect them to come out like those roasted chickpea snacks that you can sometimes get.

They don't puff up, but I think they're pretty good with a roasted crunch. Make sure to rinse them, then add salt and a bit of oil. Afterwards you can cover them in seasoning or sauce.

I do this with canned beans. Just drain the tin, rinse the beans, and toss them in the air fryer for 10-12 minutes with salt and oil.

If I was less lazy I would probably soak my own dried beans and cook them and whatever but eh

I remember buying X-2 used back in the day and it would always crash after the opening FMV :(

Traded it back for Viewtiful Joe, a game which worked great for about a week before breaking completely.

Never bought a used game again after that.

I've tried 3 times and never managed to get more than a couple hours into it. If Dark Souls 2 is like a fan-game that misses the point of the original, FFX-2 is like one of those bizarre total conversion mods that misses not only the point but also fundamentally fucks up the gameplay loop and is written by a 16 year old with a really sick fanfiction idea

          yes-chad

To me X and X-2 are a pair. The former is one of my favorite games, but you are on rails the whole time. At least with X-2 goofing off in the world is the point. Mechanically X-2's Job system delivers on the flexibility that X's sphere grid only promised. Existentially it was a fun way to explore After The End of a favorite game, or what does the protagonist do after they saved the world.

I also see part of X-2's "weirdness" as a coping mechanism for Yuna's loss in the first game, and the rest of everybody trying their best to distract or support her as she works through that.

I also deliberately ignore the "secret" ending in X-2 because that's like Reviving Aerith levels of heresy.

It's like a fangame made by people who thought the point of dark souls was to be really unfair and kill you a lot

It's amateurish and haphazardly designed, and the story/lore has nothing to do with the quite broad and unexplored world set up in the lore of Dark Souls

It fails as a sequel narratively and in gameplay, and it fails as an independent game gameplay-wise too, especially after the following couple years when the soulslike market was flooded with a thousand better entries

The story has everything to do with Dark Souls 1, they just chose an unexpected aspect to explore. Honestly that's my favorite part of it, and I think it's telling that DS3, a game slavishly devoted to DS1 fan service, still rests its basic premise on a logical extension of the idea of endless cycles established by DS2

The idea of the world of Dark Souls being locked in endless cycles was not established in Dark Souls 2, that was a concept strongly favored in the community of Dark Souls lore nerds long before Dark Souls 2 was ever conceived

Yeah but it's different enough from the other Souls games that it feels unique and special. It's like the most well polished fan overhaul ever. I've played pretty much all the mods and fan overhauls of all the souls games and there's just something about Dark Souls 2 that feels special.

I mean it's still my least favorite entry in the series but. I dunno. Maybe it's the nostalgia though, I remember when it came out I had a friend come over for the weekend and brought his playstation and his TV and we did nothing but co-op most of the game together that weekend. That nostalgia definitely factors into my rosy view of it.

It does have some good co-op, I'll give it that. Final Fantasy X-2

Final Fantasy X-2 is unironically one of the best FF titles in terms of gameplay. The combat is fast and frenetic, there are tons of strategies to find within the job system, you can explore the world in any order from the get-go and 50% of the game's content is side content that rewards exploring the game's locations and talking to all the NPCs, which means that a lot of the interesting bits of the story get told to you incidentally as you explore. Every other FF game made you play through 80% if the story before they gave you an airship, but X-2 cuts out the BS and gets straight to the good part.

The "Charlie's Angels" stuff was pretty cringe tho I'll give you that.

I don't think the beautiful slow-paced story full of mystery and wonder and discovery is "BS" that needed to be cut out, so I guess there's the core of the disagreement
