See thumbnail with youtuber making youtuber face: click don’t recommend this channel

I used to think duckface was the most obnoxious thing you could do in a photograph. My pure, clean 2000s brain actually thought that.

Soyface is the 6th black category. It's commodified human emotion.

Commodified is so on the mark for that face on YouTube, too. It's well-known the algorithm of the website looks for faces with lots of emotion as a criteria for what gets promoted, so the soyface is an easy way to check the box, since YouTube seems to think open mouth equals emotion.

I remember Linus from LTT making a joke at one point about how he'd be taking photos for the thumbnails and be like "yeah there we go, my face looks cringe enough for the algorithm". They know it's just to game the system, lots of them hate it but do it anyway because they see the analytics on videos without soyfaces in the thumbnail consistently get less views even if they cover the same material.

Jesus, the algorithm takes it into account? That's already SocietyoftheSpectacle.jpg, I've got 95 theses to nail on someone's door about the fucking algorithm, but beyond their time and content and money and ideology it's holding their face hostage.

There's so much cringe in these click-bait thumbnails, I'm baffled as to how they even work.

Obviously mr beast is just doing this for tax evasion and to make sweet YouTube stacks off of click bait but I do see the idea of using YouTube to monotise your charity or mutual aid group in able to get more funding and I wonder if any leftists could use it, might as well manipulate parts of capitalism to help people in need while you work to abolish it right?

Mr Beast has 59 Million subscribers. According to socialblade, in the last 30 days his videos have had 630 million views.

So, just to underscore your point, I'm beyond certain that if you took not only breadtube but also those leftists too principled to associate with breadtube and all other vaguely anticapitalist Youtubers as one that would still be but a fraction of Mr. Beast's relevancy.

How would leftists even begin to insert their ideology into the context of extremely popular YouTube content. It'd be one thing if it was all like children's educational cartoons, because you can definitely slip ideology into those. But I don't see how you can really do the same when your show is a bunch of weird cunts living in a mansion, the most popular genre of YouTube video*.

*disclaimer: I don't know what's popular on YouTube. I watch old vine compliations and 18 hour long Marxist Leninist essays relitigating the history of the USSR.

I barely know who this is and will keep it that way. Younger nephew mentioned him before and I kind of tuned him out. Wasn't super relevant to our previous discussion on rocket league anyway.

I'm baffled on how this guy even has the amount of money he has. Like, i see his videos that are like "last one standing gets this 1.7 million dollar car" and my first reaction is :gui-better:

A lot of these influencers are actually lying. They rent expensive things for their videos and say that they bought it. Don't let that fool you into think this fucker isn't loaded hough, with the views he pulls he's definitely a rich asshole

Oh, i'm aware that they rent shit to look wealthier, but its just the absolute gall to flaunt this perceived unobtainable lifestyle.

His videos are sponsored, so it’s a large-ish company that’s actually giving the shit away. I was confused too.
