As young adults are realizing how badly their material conditions are degrading in the US, they cope by getting nostalgic for an earlier time in their lives when they didn't have to worry about material conditions i.e. childhood. I don't judge, I do it myself. It's an opportunity to let people know why their life sucks.
Yup, that and the fact that the ballooning cost of entertainment means that executives are increasingly more likely to just revive old franchises rather than risk trying anything new
