Oh my god, they would lose their shit at the 'forced diversity' of having characters like Private Vasquez.

"They act like Weyland-Yutani is so evil, but how could we have gotten off earth without a capitalistic monopoly driving the innovations necessary for deep space travel? Sure they're exploiting their workers' contracts and forcing them into astronomically dangerous circumstances in order to collect a biological weapon capable of wiping out an entire planet and bringing it back to earth, and sure they made a second pass at collecting that weapon by sending families to die at the hands of these aliens under the guise of terraforming the planet, but that's the thing about the survival of the human race! Sometimes you have to willfully kill innocent children and threaten people's livelihoods to make progress! It has nothing to do with the galaxy's largest megacorporation boosting profits! It's about BUILDING BETTER WORLDS! HOW CAN YOU NOT FUCKING SEE THIS YOU STUPID LIBS!"

I really love those movies haha.

I will never not love the way reactionaries latch onto and misuse the word woke, a term that nobody on the left has used in like 5 years.

Supposedly the casting was done without first names for the characters, so actors just ~~studying ~~ auditioned for whichever role appealed. That seems basically ideal to me

It will never not be incredibly weird to me how much of hollywood's history people manage to memory hole despite spending so much of their lives consuming its output. Like the entire reason you have Alien is "woke" people reforming 1950s sci fi. Prior to that nobody like Sigourney Weaver was getting cast to play jack shit ie 2001 or any of the other clarke and asimov adaptations.

Dude, I know it's a hot take here, but 1984 was right. No one remembers anything more than a year ago and mass media just makes up reality as it goes.
