So many things to unpack here I don’t even know where to get started.

Careful with those numbers. They're very alarming but it doesn't necessarily mean a Le Pen victory is imminent (even if more than probable at this rate), or that the whole country has gone fash. First of all, people tend to make more "reasonable" (big quotation marks on this one because the bar is on the floor) decisions on election day. Second of all, this may be representative of voting intentions, but not necessarily of the entire population. Many people in France just don't vote, or vote blank. This isn't 30% of the entire population for this age range.
This is both very alarming and extremely depressing, but unfortunately not surprising. The French "left" seems addicted to losing, and parties like the PCF honestly look like as many psyops to siphon votes away serpent style. The petit-bourgeois "left" has also made it's come back, with figures like Jadot or Hidalgo (the "greens" and the """socialists"""). I think they had somewhat of a project to unite the left in France, but that would exclude anything that was to the left of Mélenchon, or Mélenchon and his party themselves. Which seems to have been a disaster anyway since PS and EELV are running separately. lol. a farce.
On the other hand Macron & friends (that is, the billionaires that own garbage medias like CNEWS or BFMTV) have just been unwrapping a red carpet to Le Pen, with their fascist-style islamophobic politics, which would need an entire ass post of their own, and fascist TV show hosts such as Zemmour or Prault, who spew bullshit and hatred on national television. Macron is basically sacrificing the country to the Great Capital during a pandemic, and needs a scapegoat, which, of course was going to be Islam and leftism (tbt judeo-bolchevism :D) . This is nothing new in France, as the prime minister of the previous government (Hollande's government, PM was Valls) was also a violent, idiotic islamophobe who employed words like "islamo-leftism" before it became even bigger of a phenomenon .
Anyway. I am not particularly saddened by this whole thing. Communism will win, one way or the other. Even if the only victory we get is the bitter satisfaction of knowing we were right as we watch civilization collapse under the weight of crumbling capitalism.
The unelected French government wouldn't allow Le Pen to do anything real anyway. The elected governments stay for a few years but the bureaucracy will outlast them. Those people are in office for 30-40 years and have weathered many storms and know exactly how to cut the tendons of the beast.
I mean the French senate is chewing on individual liberties as we speak. Macron's government, elected or unelected, is already doing "real" things. I don't want to be that guy who says "they said the same thing about Hitler", but they did say the same thing about Hitler. Comparing Le Pen to the NSDAP seems far fetched but her party was co-founded by an actual SS. I don't mean to say that France is necessarily going to become a full on dystopian fascist regime if Le Pen is elected, but we should definitely not underestimate the damage RN can do.
The UK unelected government was saying the same thing right before it was a real possibility Corbyn would be elected - "don't worry, we've got it under control, we won't let him do anything."
We have to realize just how little power the elected government has in this day and age.
