When did futuristic change from meaning white, plastic, and egg-shaped to ugly grey or black metal boxes?
Probably around the same time designers subconsciously realised that the neoliberal concensus inevitably leads to Half-life or Snow Crash
Personally I feel like the grey, non-symetrical boxes can be more honest.
Rectangular circuit boards behind a rectangular screen that spends 90% of its time in your rectangular pocket, surrounded by a white, plastic, egg-shaped cowling feels like it's trying to be something it's not.
I have never understood the "honesty" thing. Like, I know it's not powered by magic. I don't care what it looks like as long as it works.
that spends 90% of its time in your rectangular pocket
stuffing phone that I've been staring at since 4am back into my pants
Haha. Yeah. 90% of the time. Crazy, right?

It looks like one of the early huge vapes with a dodgy power supply that had a chance of exploding.
The vapes that have a chance of exploding are usually mechanical tube mods with a bunch of serially stacked low-power batteries that are then used with bigass low-ohm atomizers, causing battery failure and gassing out, which then leads to pressure buildup and explosion if there are no vents or intended breaking points on the underside. So vapes with explosion hazard basically look like pipe bombs (and in case of an explosion, also work like a pipe bomb), not like some huge, dorky-ass box.
Sorry for the nitpick, just felt like nerding out about vapes. Also not saying "don't get a mech mod", i use one myself and love it, just please don't use them with the wrong batteries and subohm tanks.
some people here seem to dislike the design, but building what essentially looks like a Glock with wheels is ... well, i admit it's kinda ugly, yeah. But ugly in a way that's interesting enough to make me wonder if this is a serial model or a concept.
it looks like the bike the cops in an 80s British dystopia would ride
Remember, remember, the 5th of November, the treason and gunpowder plot
Damn, it's two-thousand-and-current-year and we're still building shit that has wheels smdh.
There are skidoo/motorcycle hybrids that have treads on what is essentially a bike frame
For real can't we spice it up with like a couple MagLevs or maybe we can do something with this?
Idgaf just cool it with the wheels for a bit
I want something with fans, like the Manta from Unreal. Something that will turn me into marinara if I fall off
Can't wait to get maimed when one of these rockets into the side of the bus I'm on at 200 km/h because the driver thought it was self driving
No, but it would be involved in crashes anyways and if the batteries are lithium then every mild crash is gonna be really dangerous.
I usually hate defending e-vehicles but you'd need to be going pretty fast to basically spear the battery box on one of these and puncture a cell to cause thermal runaway. Most motorcycle accidents tend to rip the fork off and send the bike and rider flying, but don't tear apart the frame and engine area aside from farings and junk.
Teslas weigh 100x more and no matter how much I hate to defend Tesla, it takes a big hit for them to light on fire.
Electric motorcycles w/ l-ion batteries are pretty common in parts of SEA.
That, but also they have way more batteries than a typical scooter or even motorcycle and the batterie casing is a structural part of the frame
Off topic but whats y'all opinions on mopeds? They seem way cheaper then a car and I never really need to drive all that far for groceries or anything like that
neat way to get around faster than walking/waiting for a bus, you can put bags on the back to carry a decent amount, small enough that you can bring inside, small enough to be thrown in a pickup and gone forever.
Opt for a 4 stroke engine, less power and bigger but a lot cleaner and you dont need to mix gas and oil.
