digimon is great because it can make the silliest looking digimon feel scary af in the show and movies.
I honestly love how the show just embraces the design clash, so you get to have these really cutesy digimon existing right alongside these fucked-up looking abominations (like Kimeramon, which can evolve from stuff like Lopmon lol). I think they're able to use that fairly effectively to strike a mood.
iirc in the movie Parrotmon had a stereotypical Polly want a cracker voice and it was hilarious because it was a super serious battle

Parrotmon did fuck up Odaiba which led to the Digidestined getting picked for the gig. Apocalymon was scary aside from the very out of place jokes.

He was in a recent episode of the new show too. Depicted as a weird garbage scientist guy who was studying the junk that got warped in from the human world and using it to build said bazooka to kill this asshole digimon who had killed all his lab assistants.
That's interesting. Is the new show worth watching? I haven't watched much past like the 3rd season
Honestly, yeah, I think it's worthwhile overall. It's still Digimon so there's a limit on how interesting the plots are willing to get since it's a kids show and needs to remain accessible, but overall it's been a solid watch. The early episodes and the most recent ones are the best. There's a bad slog in some of the middle episodes though, they get caught in a pacing loop and the episodes feel very repetitive for a while.
